On 7 April, 2022 the State Patent Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania (SPB) has successfully completed the integration of its trade mark and design register data systems with the intellectual property register in the Blockchain network. The Blockchain network is a modern, fast, and secure way to store and disseminate intellectual property information. From now on, this Blockchain network will be used to deliver trade mark and design data to TMview and DesignView, and in the future it is planned to use for other SPB public services in the digital space.

This innovative solution was developed in collaboration with the European Union Intellectual Property Office and implementing IP offices European Cooperation Network project.

"We are pleased to be working with the European Union Intellectual Property Office and have no doubt that the use of the Blockchain network will be another important and progressive step in ensuring faster and more secure use of intellectual property information.

The publicity and security of the information provided by the intellectual property offices is very important for the participants of the intellectual property system, and the use of Blockchain increases the reliability of this system. The usage of modern technologies such as Blockchain ensuring efficient, convenient, fast and reliable access to intellectual property information is a great advantage for the users of this information,” - says Lina Mickienė, acting Director of the State Patent Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania.
