Young researcher from Lithuania nominated for WIPO Award

Kaunas Technology University gymnasium student Gabija Jurkevičiūtė with research „The effect of itantoic acid on neuronal viability“ (research supervisor Dr. Paulius Čyvas) was nominated for the special WIPO Award and awarded by the State Patent Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania (SPB) in the national stage of European Union Contest for Young Scientist (EUCYS).

The Jury consisting of the representatives of State Patent Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania, Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology and Institute of Patent Attorneys based its decision on such criteria as technical solution and its innovativeness, creativity, practical application, work completeness and consistency.

Three additional research works of young scientists were rewarded with additional SPB prizes.

The national stage of European Union Contest for Young Scientist which is held for the 22nd time is organized by Lithuanian Centre of non-formal youth education. Lithuanian students have won more than twenty prizes in this contest.

The Head of The SPB Industrial Property Information Division K. Vilkienė, the first-place winner G. Jurkevičiūtė and The SPB Deputy Director, the chairman of The Jury Ž. Danys.
