New Regulations for the registration of Trademarks were adopted on January 24th. These Regulations implement the new version of the Law on Trademarks, which came into force on January 1, 2019.

The new version of Regulations is aimed at making the registration and protection system of trademarks more accessible, efficient, adapting it to the digital environment, as well as simplifying, accelerating and harmonizing the filing of applications, registration of trademarks and other procedures. Therefore, electronic application filing system was updated : new fees were set, registration of new types of marks was made possible, application process has been reduced to three stages (filing out of the application, payment, submission), the possibility of the certification mark registration and a fast-track examination was introduced, import of Nice Classification headers was abolished.

New version of the Regulations implements on Trademarks Directive (EU) 2015/2436 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2015 to approximate the laws of the Member States relating to trademarks.
