On 15-16th of May a meeting of heads of Patent Offices of the Nordic and Baltic countries was held in Vilnius, where various issues on activities and cooperation were discussed. The meeting was attended by representatives of all countries in the region - Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland and Sweden.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Intellectual Property Center (Gothenburg, Sweden) who shared insights on the impact of industrial revolution 4.0 on intellectual property and its effective use.

The meeting sought answers to strengthen the use of intellectual property opportunities in business. One of the areas in which the increasing attention of patent offices has been observed for many years is the development of public awareness of intellectual property and its importance. Intellectual property is one of the most effective ways for companies to control their new knowledge and thus to compete more effectively in a knowledge-based economy.

Regional meetings of patents, trademarks and design, public relations experts are held annually in each of the countries in the region. This year, the State Patent Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania plans to hold a total of 4 meetings.
