The State Patent Bureau (SPB) participated in the international forum in the Baltics for world-class biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical devices experts Life Sciences Baltics 2018. The forum was an opportunity to expand cooperation, share ideas and discover this field of science in Lithuania and the Baltic States. The SPB provided for information on the patenting process and technology licensing opportunities on its booth.

In 2017, the SPB granted 143 national patents, of which 65% were granted to Lithuanian residents. In 2017, 1844 European patents granted by the European patent Office were validated in the Republic of Lithuania, 16% more than in the previous year.

The Government of the Republic of Lithuania actively supports patenting abroad. 75% of the costs of filing of the European patent application and the national patent search conducted by the European Patent Office might be compensated by the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA). Requests for a national patent search done by the EPO are to be submitted thought the SPB.
