The commemoration of the centenary of the Baltic States at WIPO General Assemblies

Last week, the commemoration of the centenary of the Baltic States was held at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) General Assemblies.

From 24 of September to 2 of October the 58th series of WIPO Assemblies take place in Geneva, Switzerland. The Assemblies brought together more than 1 thousand delegates from WIPO Member States, non-governmental organizations and diplomatic representations.

On the first day of the Assemblies a gala event to celebrate the Baltic States’ Centenary took place. The exhibition demonstrated the products of innovation and intellectual property rights of all three countries, reflecting the identity of the Baltic region and the synthesis of nature and technology. Nine products of Lithuanian enterprises were selected in the specimen of the exhibition dedicated to Lithuania.

During the opening of the exhibition, musicians of tree Baltic States “Three Winds” led by Saulius Petreikis from Lithuania presented musical performance; culinary heritage of the Baltic States was introduced to the guests.

WIPO is one of the United Nations agencies responsible for international intellectual property questions. Almost all countries in the world (191 countries) are the WIPO member states. Lithuania has been a member of the WIPO since 1992. The WIPO headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland.
